Bogota, Colombia, November 3, 2025:
After years of anticipation, the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) has finally arrived in Latin America and the Caribbean hosted for the very first time in the vibrant city of Bogota, Colombia. The global convening has drawn over 3,500 delegates from every corner of the world, each bringing their passion, expertise, and commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all.
Before the official opening of ICFP 2025, faith leaders from diverse doctrines and traditions came together for a powerful Interfaith Prayer Session at the Agora Bogotá Convention Center. The event, held under the theme “Faith and Family Planning: United for Equity Through Action,” marked a symbolic beginning to a week of collaboration, learning, and advocacy.
The morning’s devotion created a sacred space for unity an atmosphere of hope, compassion, and shared purpose. Leaders representing Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and other faiths prayed for:
- Access to quality SRHR and family planning services for all,
- Support for displaced and vulnerable communities, and
- Stronger health systems and supply chains to ensure sustainability.
Through heartfelt prayers, reflective devotions, and songs of compassion, participants lifted up families around the world, promoting gender equality, inclusion, and dignity for women and girls. Dedicated prayer stations allowed for collective reflection on key global challenges from maternal health and climate resilience to peace and justice.
“Our shared faith traditions remind us that compassion, care, and justice are central to family and community well-being,” said one faith representative during the session. “Together, we affirm that faith can be a bridge not a barrier to advancing health, equity, and human rights.”
Faith to Action Network joins partners in celebrating this milestone moment of interfaith collaboration. As a long-standing advocate for faith-led action in family health and gender equality, the Network recognizes the essential role that faith communities play in transforming attitudes, shaping policy, and mobilizing collective action toward SRHR for all.
A heartfelt thank you to our Colombian hosts and all faith participants for demonstrating the power of unity in diversity and for showing the world that collaboration across beliefs is key to achieving lasting change.
This is our moment a time to connect, collaborate, and drive #EquityThroughAction to advance SRHR and family well-being for every person, everywhere.
