• Strengthening Partnerships for Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.

In April 2025, the Faith to Action Network team embarked on an inspiring journey to Livingstone, Zambia, where collaboration and community engagement took center stage in advancing Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR). This on-the-ground trip was not just a meeting of minds, it was a powerful movement to transform faith into tangible actions supporting the next generation.

Connecting with Key Stakeholders

Upon arrival in Livingstone, our team immediately began engaging with key local and regional stakeholders dedicated to enhancing ASRHR services. One of the trip’s most memorable moments was the warm reception by Her Worship, Mayor Constance Nalishebo Muleabai. In a powerful demonstration of leadership and commitment, the Mayor pledged to work hand-in-hand with the SHARP project. This collaboration will be instrumental in expanding access to essential services for adolescents and youth, ensuring that their needs are met in a compassionate and effective manner.

Emphasizing Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships

Recognizing that sustainable change is built on the strength of community and collaboration, our network underscored the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships. At the recent NEAPACOH parliamentary meeting, as well as in engagements with the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), we spotlighted innovative regional advocacy efforts. These discussions were pivotal in driving the momentum toward the re-introduction of the East African Community (EAC) Sexual and Reproductive Health Bill, a crucial step forward in promoting SRHR throughout the region.

The Role of Faith in Policy Dialogue

What makes our approach unique is the central role of faith in shaping policy and advocacy. As an interfaith network, we are committed to ensuring that the voices of religious leaders are not only heard, but are also central to conversations on policy and reforms. By integrating faith perspectives into the dialogue, we emphasize compassion, inclusivity, and ethical leadership—cornerstones that guide our efforts to elevate ASRHR services.

A Look Ahead

The trip to Livingstone reinforces our belief that partnerships built on trust and mutual respect are key to transforming advocacy into action. With the continued commitment of leaders like Mayor Muleabai and the collective energy of the Faith to Action Network and other consortium partners, we are confident that our efforts will lead to strengthened services and improved health outcomes for adolescents and youth in the region.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to work collaboratively towards a future where every young person has access to the comprehensive services, they need for a healthy, empowered life.
