Biography

Bishop Godson Lawson-Kpavuvu is the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Togo. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma (DEA) in Sociology and Development Studies at the University of Lomé and a Master’s degree in Theology from the Faculty of Protestant Theology of Yaoundé in Cameroon. Bishop Lawson-Kpavuvu is deeply involved in social issues, HIV advocacy. and peace building. He has worked with the World Council of Churches Ecumenical HIV and AIDS Initiatives and Advocacy Programme (WCC-EHAIA) as Chair of the International Reference Group (IRG), where he has helped shape theological narratives around HIV to reduce stigma and discrimination. His commitment to social justice and ecumenical collaboration has earned him leadership roles in regional and international organizations, including:
  • West Africa Network of Peace Building (WANEP
  • Fellowship of Councils and Churches in West Africa (Chair of advisory committee FECCIWA)
  • All Africa Conference of Churches (President West Africa Region of AACC)
  • Steering Committee of the World Methodist Council in charge of Social and International Affairs Committee
  • Africa Methodist Council (Vice President AMC)
  • Commissioner in the Commission of the Churches on Health and Healing of World Council of Churches (WCC)
