A side-event at the 52nd Session of the United Nations Commission on
Population and Development (CPD) 2019
Despite the efforts made by the international community over the last decades, we have
seen an increased polarisation in the areas of human rights, and especially with regards
to gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights.
Religious actors have great influence over matters to do with population and
development, including SRH, RR and gender equality – reaching from the delivery of
health and education services, to the role religious leaders and other religious
authorities have, as “norm setters”, legislators and advocates on the national and global
scene.
We will hear from faith-inspired rights’ actors on the main theme of the CPD. , “Review
and appraisal of the PoA of the ICPD and its contribution to the follow-up and review of
the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”
Join us for an interactive discussion which will bring together diverse prospective and
provide the opportunity to share our experiences with one another.
